THE MOSHULU INTRODUCES BRUNCH BUFFET ON SUNDAYS

Philadelphia, PA (April 1, 2005) – To usher in the spring season, the Moshulu restaurant/ship has introduced a Sunday brunch buffet menu. Executive chef/partner Ralph Fernandez and Executive Sous Chef Adam DeLosso have planned a premiere brunch that is served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the price fix of only $24.95. Permanently moored on the Philadelphia waterfront, the Moshulu, the world’s oldest and largest four-masted sailing ship, continues to receive raves for its adventurous food, beautiful decor and unparalleled view, including recognition as a 2005 AAA Four Diamonds Award ® Restaurant.

The Moshulu’s brunch buffet demonstrates the ship’s culinary philosophy to offer adventuresome food using the freshest ingredients, many from local farmers. The buffet selections evolve, changing frequently, focusing on the highlights of each season. “This special brunch menu captures the essence of our continuous efforts to enhance our guests’ experiences by providing unique culinary offerings using only the finest and freshest ingredients,” Fernandez explains.

The combination of eating great food on this beautiful ship is the perfect way to enjoy a Sunday brunch and at the Moshulu’s buffet there are a large number of food stations with an extensive selection of dishes on each station. Here is a sampling of the stations:

· An extravagant salad station – with hearts of romaine, a selection of varietal petit greens, “wonderful things that range from dried cranberries, candied almonds and pecans to assorted olives, shaved red onions, goat cheese from local farmers in Berks County,” as described by Fernandez.
· Soup Station – a selection of soups will vary including such popular items as vidalia onion, butternut squash or New England Clam Chowder, for example.
· Antipasto Station with composed salads including country salad with grilled chicken, a platter of grilled asparagus with pine nuts, vine-ripened tomatoes, and smoked salmon
· Omelet Station – all made to order with eggs benedict, sausage, bacon and hash brown potatoes

· Belgian Waffle Station with fresh Tahitian Vanilla whipped cream and marinated spring berries
· Carving and Entrée station with traditional Virginia Honey Glazed ham and roast turkey plus dishes like crab-crusted tilapia, grilled flat iron steak with red wine sauce and seared mahi mahi

The Moshulu, the world’s oldest and largest four-masted tall ship, was originally launched in 1904. Highly acclaimed throughout the country for the adventuresome menu and “world-class” food under the reign of Executive Chef/Partner Ralph Fernandez, the Moshulu is a treasure in Philadelphia. Under the leadership of proprietor Marty Grims, she re-opened in May 2003, was redecorated in a South Seas flair and has been more successful than anytime in her past. Originally named Kurt, after being confiscated by America, Mrs. Woodrow Wilson renamed her Moshulu, meaning “fearless,” to honor Native Americans.

In addition to being named a 2005 AAA Four Diamonds Award® restaurant, the Moshulu has received numerous accolades, including the “Best Dish of the Year 2005” by Philadelphia Magazine’s popular event, Philly Cooks. It has been recognized by philadelphiacitysearch.com as winner of the Best View in Philadelphia and received the Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence.

The Moshulu is permanently docked in Philadelphia on the Penn’s Landing Marina at 401 S. Columbus Boulevard (between Lombard and Pine Streets). The Moshulu is open daily for lunch, Sunday buffet brunch, and dinner. Parking is available adjacent to the ship. The Bongo Bar and Deck opens May 17, 2005 and introduces grilled dishes to the casual menu on the deck. Bongo will open daily for dinner and weekends for lunch and dinner.
